Primary Care or Family Medicine

If you're looking for medical care that will prioritize your overall health and wellness, look no further than Caya Health. As your first line of defense against illness and disease, primary care doctors can help you navigate a wide range of health concerns, from chronic conditions to acute illnesses. In this article, we'll explore the many benefits of primary care and how it can help you lead a healthier, happier life.

There are many benefits to choosing primary care or family medicine for your healthcare needs. Here are just a few:

1. Comprehensive Care

Primary care doctors are trained to provide a wide range of medical services, from routine checkups to management of chronic conditions. They can also refer you to specialists when needed, ensuring that you receive the best possible care for your health concerns.

2. Personalized Care

Primary care doctors take the time to get to know their patients on a personal level, and can provide care that is tailored to their individual needs and preferences. This can help to build trust and strengthen the doctor-patient relationship, which can lead to better health outcomes over time.

3. Preventive Care

One of the most important roles of primary care doctors is to provide preventive care and screenings that can catch health problems early, before they become more serious. This can include everything from vaccinations and cancer screenings to cholesterol checks and blood pressure monitoring.

4. Chronic Condition Management

For patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, or heart disease, primary care doctors can provide ongoing care and management to help them stay healthy and manage their symptoms. This can include regular checkups, medication management, and lifestyle counseling.

5. Convenience

Primary care doctors are often located close to where you live or work, making it easy to schedule appointments and get the care you need when you need it. Many primary care clinics also offer same-day appointments and extended hours, making it easier to fit healthcare into your busy schedule.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Therapy is an innovative therapy for the treatment of Major Depression and certain other neuropsychiatric disorders.

TMS is an approach, which uses magnetic pulses to accurately stimulate neural activity. TMS treatment is:

  • Non-invasive, meaning it does not involve surgery, anesthesia or sedation of any kind.
  • Non-systemic, meaning it is not a pill that has to be swallowed and does not circulate the blood stream.

Adult Psychology & Child Psychology

Workshops & Support Groups

We should not be alone in our struggles. Often, achieving goals is easier when others with similar experiences learn from and encourage one another. Our Caya Health professionals are experts in leading small group sessions covering common subjects like depression and anxiety, smoking cessation, diabetes control, weight loss, and more. We use tested and proven national and regional programs with advice and recommendations from organizations like Tobacco Free FloridaNAMISAMSHA, and others. With the help at our integrated health care center, you can rest assured that we are taking your body, mind, and spirit into account to help you achieve your whole person goals.

Mindful Eating

One of the most important factors of support groups is the connection it provides. Having a safe space to openly discuss your struggles and being around others doing the same helps individuals to feel less alone in the challenges they face. As it has been stated, “There simply is no pill that can replace human connection. There is no pharmacy that can fill the need for compassionate interaction with others…the answer to human suffering is both within us and between us.” Weight Management / Emotional Eating support groups provide this connection for individuals that have been longing to feel seen, understood, and supported. A guided group can provide encouragement and support, but most importantly, help you understand and break some of the emotional barriers impacting your weight. With the help of our Primary Care / Mental Health experts, we get a complete picture of how to support your weight management and whole person health goals.

Emotional eating is the practice of consuming large quantities of food -- usually "comfort" or junk foods -- in response to feelings instead of hunger.Research shows that about 75% of all of our eating is emotionally driven,” Dr. Albers notes. “We eat not because we’re hungry, but because we’re bored, stressed or anxious.” There’s a biological connection between emotional eating and stress — namely that your body starts producing a hormone called cortisol when you start feeling alarmed or upset. Cortisol makes us crave sugary, fatty or salty foods.

CAYA HEALTH

Alzheimer's & Dementia Caregivers Support Group

Our caregiver support groups allow the caregiver the opportunity to introduce him/herself and to talk a little bit about his/her situation and their loved one with alzheimer’s/dementia. Caregivers are encouraged to discuss problems and frustrations, share positive experiences, and express their emotions, whether it be crying or laughing. Other members will often offer suggestions or solutions and share similar stories. It can be very comforting to learn that you are not alone in your experience. Some caregivers may prefer to listen rather than share their story, which is also fine. Guest speakers may occasionally speak to the group, such as lawyers, nurses, etc. However, most caregivers find that the biggest benefit of attending a support group is sharing their story with people who “get it”, as well as receiving strong support and encouragement from other caregivers. The group is sponsored by Clincloud and the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center.

Diabetes Control Group

Creating new habits can be daunting. This guided group is designed for both newly diagnosed and existing diabetics. Together, they support each other while learning and practicing the best ways to achieve whole person goals specific to diabetes.

Depression & Anxiety Healing Groups

Caya Health is uniquely blessed to offer trained, licensed, and experienced mental health counselors, psychiatrists, family and internal medicine doctors, and nurse practitioners who all have a deep understanding and appreciation of the connection between your emotions, body, and spirit. These practitioners work together on your behalf to develop, plan and support healing in your journey towards wholeness. Depending on your circumstance, a healing group may be recommended to support your healing and your whole person health goals.

More Information

A psychologist is a health professional with specific training based on clinical psychological research into human behavior. The psychology field has been studying the mental processes of human beings for over a century and has developed effective methods for dealing with mental illnesses. It also has developed strict codes of ethics and confidentiality that all practitioners must follow to remain board-certified. Psychologists must regularly receive continuing education to stay current on a variety of topics and maintain licensure. Psychologists undergo rigorous training during their education and must complete thousands of hours of supervised practice to become licensed to practice on their own. As such, when someone goes to a psychologist, they can be assured that a high standard of ethics, professionalism, and confidentiality will be shown by the psychologist.

“Therapist” is a term that can include several disciplines with different approaches. It can range from the psychologist described above to a licensed social worker, marriage and family therapist, or a counselor. In many states, “therapist” is a protected term that can only be used by the previously mentioned disciplines and only by those who hold licensure with a state board. In some states, the term is restricted even further, and only some of the disciplines may have this as part of their title. As it is a protected term, you can be assured of a higher degree of professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality as those will be required by the various state boards for those disciplines.
